A Background on the Twin Barrel Extruder
Three colours, one press.
There is a need in the market. Demand for records other than plain black or single-colour vinyl created an issue: how does a plant actually deal with blobs, pinwheel and segmented multi-coloured records?
Zenith, like any plant, ran into the difficulty of manufacturing these specialty items early. Zenith addressed it by manufacturing a twin barrel extruder — it makes these specialty items a lot easier to produce by providing two additional PVC pucks of different colours. Added adjacent to an existing press with its own extruder, the setup allows three different coloured pucks to be produced at the same time — presenting the operator with an immense amount of design variations.
The twin barrel extruder manufactured by Zenith has multiple cups available to produce pre-formed pucks in a variety of shapes — star, segmented into three male and female (once put together they form interesting patterns on a pressed record), pinwheel, and all kinds of shapes.
The two barrels are individually speed-controlled and independently heated, with full control — twin safety buttons and light curtains for the safety of the operators.
